Shift Workers

If you are a shift worker, you know the havoc that irregular sleep schedules can play on your body. Some studies have indicated that people who do shift work have reduced lifespan by five to ten years because of the stress it places on their bodies. In some ways, shift work is like continuous jet lag.
The greatest stress that is created by shift work is due to the shifting of your internal clock back and forth. |anyone who's ever done shift work knows that the first few nights are the hardest. As your body goes through those transitions, it's producing extra adrenaline and cortisol to deal with the stress. Excess adrenaline and cortisol have been linked to heart disease, immune system compromise, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.
