Reduced Stress

Stress is what happens to your brain when it perceives a threat. 50,000 years ago, it was a very helpful protective mechanism when the threats around us were physically dangerous. Today, most of the threats we experience are not physically dangerous, yet our bodies still respond with increased adrenaline, cortisol and muscle tension. Since we cannot burn off stress by fighting or physically running away from the source of stress, we tend to internalize it, creating muscle tension, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and literally creating brain damage to the short-term memory area of our brain.
If you are exposed to chronic, sustained stress, your brain waves will become used to firing in a stressed-out manner. When your brain starts treating that stressed-out pattern as normal, you are well on your way to burning out.
